Municipal Services During Covid-19

MEDIA RELEASE

Included below is a list of Township services and the impact on these services as a result of measures related to COVID-19. This page will be updated as the situation evolves. Please be reminded to clean and disinfect high touch areas regularly and wash your hands frequently. Individuals are required to wear a mask or face covering in the indoor areas of businesses or organizations that are open. Wearing a mask or face covering is now recommended outdoors when you can’t physically distance more than two metres.


AIRPORT
The Chapleau Airport Terminal will be temporarily closed to the general public until further notice. The airport remains operational and fuel is available. Township employees remain committed to offering services through:

BUILDING AND BY-LAW SERVICES
Building and By-law inquiries will only be received by phone at 705-864-1330 or by email.

COMMUNITY CENTRE AND OUTDOOR RECREATION AMENITIES
All outdoor playgrounds have been opened for the season. Physical distancing is mandatory.

The A.W. Moore arena is closed.

COUNCIL MEETINGS
Council meetings are being held by teleconference until further notice. A schedule of meetings is available at www.chapleau.ca.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM
Economic Development and Tourism office will be closed to the public. Inquiries can be directed by phone at 705-864-1330 or by email.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Waste pickup will continue to operate as per usual. For roadside collection of waste, residents are reminded that all waste must be placed in a secured green refuse bag of the standard size not weighing more than 40 lbs. (18kg).
The Landfill remains open as per regular business hours. Residents must contact the Civic Centre in advance to arrange for the purchase of tokens in $20 increments with curb-side pickup. To protect against the spread of COVID-19 please remember to maintain a distance of 2m from each other at the Landfill.

Bear bins are now available and will be open between Monday at 9am and Friday at 2:30pm, closed Statutory Holidays.

MUNICIPAL OFFICE
The Municipal Office is closed to the public, however curb-side pickup is available. Communication to staff by email or phone is preferred. Payments can be made online, at the bank, by mail, by e-transfer at payment@chapleau.ca or can be placed in the drop box at the Civic Centre.

PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Public Library remains closed to the public, however curbside pickup is available.

PUBLIC WORKS
The Public Works building is closed to the public. Service requests can be submitted by phone or email:

TRANSIT SERVICES
The Municipal Transit Services have resumed operations with a limit of one rider at a time. This ensures physical distancing is possible at all times and additional cleaning procedures have been implemented between riders.
