Municipal Services During Covid-19

MUNICIPAL SERVICES
Included below is a list of Township services and the impact on these services as a result of measures related to COVID-19. This page will be updated as the situation evolves. Please be reminded to clean and disinfect high touch areas regularly and wash your hands frequently. When out of your home, maintain physical distancing of at least two metres (six feet) from others and wear a face covering when entering any indoor space that is open to the public, including all Township facilities.

AIRPORT
The Chapleau Airport Terminal will be temporarily closed to the general public until further notice. The airport remains operational. Fuel remains available. Township employees remain committed to offering services through:

BUILDING AND BY-LAW SERVICES
Building and By-law inquiries will only be received by phone at 705-864-1330 or by email.

COMMUNITY CENTRE AND OUTDOOR RECREATION AMENITIES
All outdoor recreational amenities have been opened including playgrounds. Signs have been posted at these locations to remind users of best practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The A.W. Moore arena is opening by stages beginning with ice time being made available to the Figure Skating Club and Chapleau Minor Hockey effective immediately. The second stage of the re-opening will be to allow other user groups to resume their ice time and to open the Community Hall to private rentals. The timing of our second stage of reopening at the Arena will be dependent on the evolving situation with COVID-19. Inquiries can be directed by phone at 705-864-0154 or by email.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM
Economic Development and Tourism office will be closed to the public. Inquiries can be directed by email.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Waste pickup will continue to operate as per usual. For roadside collection of waste, residents are reminded that all waste must be placed in a secured green refuse bag of the standard size not weighing more than 40 lbs. (18kg). Bear bins are available and will be open 7 days/week until the bins are put away for the season (timing is weather dependent) to help reduce bear attractants in neighbourhoods.
The Landfill remains open as per regular business hours. Residents must contact the Civic Centre in advance to arrange for the purchase of tokens in $20 increments with curb-side pickup between 9am and 12pm weekdays. To protect against the spread of COVID-19 please remember to maintain a distance of 2m from each other at the Landfill.

MUNICIPAL OFFICE
The Municipal Office is closed to the public, however curb-side pickup is available. Communication to staff by email or phone is preferred. Payments can be made online, at the bank, by mail or by e-transfer at payment@chapleau.ca

PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Public Library remains closed to the public however curbside pickup is available.

PUBLIC WORKS
